Vocational Training Programs are specifically designed to help clients achieve successful careers. All instruction is competency-based and each program is updated regularly with the assistance of Advisory Committees to ensure that it meets current business, education, and industry needs. Faculty hold a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees, with specialized skills in their subject matter.

Clients enrolled in Vocational Training Services may access education and workforce support services and medical services to assist them in achieving their goals. In addition, clients will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by completing an internship near the end of most training programs. The Rehabilitation Counselor assigned to each client will provide guidance, counseling, and case management to help the client access all services needed while at the WWRC and assist in the transition process back home when training is completed.

Vocational Training Graduations are held at the end of each semester (December and June). Clients who have fully completed their programs of study during that semester are eligible to participate in the graduation. Graduates are awarded a Certificate of Attainment bearing the seal of the Virginia Department of Education. Transcripts are available upon request to the WWRC Records Management DepartmentSpecial awards are bestowed upon deserving clients during each graduation ceremony.

With residential and dining services available on campus, clients can either live in the dormitories during their vocational training or commute to the campus daily, depending on their needs and circumstances. While enrolled in Vocational Training, clients have access to a variety of recreational services, including sports and extra curricula activities, chaplaincy services, and a selection of online and print materials at the Media/Resource Center.

Each program is led by a certified VDOE licensed instructor accountable for program and student outcomes. For documentation of WWRC's basis for compliance with the federal Career Pathways Program definition for its Vocational Training Programs, click here.

Specific program criteria (prerequisites) are recommended for entry into the vocational training areas; however, a vocational evaluation and multi-disciplinary team will determine final acceptance into each program.

Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

While enrolled in a Vocational Training Program, clients have an opportunity to earn the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).

Curriculum Projects

Curriculum Driven Community Projects (CDCP) are projects performed by vocational training students during their training program. Projects provide realistic and meaningful educational experiences.

Instructors are responsible for determining what projects are compatible with the curriculum. All projects are curriculum-driven and meet vocational training educational objectives. Projects that do not meet curriculum objectives will not be accepted.

Students complete all projects under the supervision of an instructor/evaluator who controls the quality of the instructional activity, as much as possible. However, since students perform all projects, quality cannot be guaranteed; and the customer assumes all risk via liability signature.

All projects must be paid for prior to removal.

Community projects are part of the following vocational training programs:
